I am just embarking on an enabling project for Creating Excellence/CABE on producing a community/ developer masterplanning template in a south west district where there are a number of sites identified in emerging development plan documents for village and town infill and extensions. The interesting aspect of this project is about building urban design understanding and capacity into local communities so that they can be genuinely involved in making decisions about their own neighbourhoods, and taken seriously by council and developers alike. I think this has potential for some interesting new ways of doing things.

The Rural Masterplanning project is a CLG sponsored project to assist rural areas deal with the designing of new neighbourhoods in rural villages and small towns with support from CABE.
