Cornwall’s Big Design Challenge has appointed me as a mentor to a community group in Wadebridge, Cornwall. Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN) is a social enterprise whose question is one of 6 shortlisted challenges from over 150 entries. Theirs was ‘How do we reduce carbon emissions, generate renewable energy as a whole town and see a proportion of revenue generated stay in the community?’. WREN is set up to be one of the first town-wide energy share programmes and have an ambitious programme to accomplish a community income from the economies of scale of such a scheme. I will be mentoring their team, together with Neil Tinson (designer/owner at Guild of Sage & Smith) to help them to form a pitch to the Big Design Challenge panel in March for a £10,000 award towards their project.
